I’ve been contemplating whether or not to continue this blog-thing as I’m not certain whether I see this as an avenue for expressing myself through writing to benefit myself or benefit others. I certainly do not want this to become a place where I just want people to know what is happening in my life and mind, but I do desire it to be used to further glorify our Father, and somehow possibly benefit the reader’s relationship with Christ. Altogether, if this can be an avenue in which individuals can stop and think for a bit about their own personal journey of faith and reflect upon their personal growth, I do believe God would truly smile upon His believers further developing and contemplating their personal journeys.
One Scripture that has been such an extreme gem for me lately is Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT).
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
How incredible it is to think that our God and Creator, in our complete fallibleness, takes delight in who we are! He genuinely comforts us in our times of need, and at the same time sings over us because of His love for us! It’s almost too hard to comprehend in our humanness because we find that earthly love can be based upon conditions, and Satan starts deceiving us at such early ages with his lies. But no matter the lies we have believed throughout the many years, our God is truly near to us, willing to comfort and guide us, and is truly proud of who we are! How incredible and overwhelming!
Travis and I have been on a journey of growth for quite some time. And we seem to both lack the faith of believing God is guiding our every step. We both desire to see where God is leading us, whether it’s employment issues, family issues, health issues, and church issues. We spent a while this week talking about where we are spiritually, and how much we yearn for God to obviously point us in the directions He wants us to go. We want that writing-on-the-wall-type sign that tells us whether or not we’ll have a family, where we should work, where we should live, when we’ll have close friends our age, and where/how He wants us to serve within His ministry. In our impatience we want clear quick answers to our many questions, yet it seems the more we want them, the more our Lord is staying quiet and waits for our faith to grow.
One thing that has been completely encouraging in our lack of seeing and hearing God, is the fact that we witnessed some amazing faith being cultivated in quite a few South Africans we can into contact with. Here we were lacking trust in our God because of such menial things, when many of the people we were serving never knew where all of their meals were going to come from because they had no money and no job. Yet their faith was amazingly strong and was evident in their prayers to their God. They trusted God would provide for their most basic need. It was such a privilege and humbling experience to be where need is so great, yet faith is so strong!
I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for staying faithful to me, even though my faith in Him waivers at times and Satan’s lies begin to deceive me. I pray for your continued growth as He guides your path and shines a light upon your hearts. May we all be more willing and open to acknowledging our need for Him, and strive to become more like Christ every hour of every day. Just remember that God is praising over you, no matter where you are in your faith journey. He longs to comfort you with His everlasting and perfect love!
